What Is Shedding Season?

Siberians are a double-coated breed. They shed heavily in spring (Mar-May) and fall (Sep-Nov). Increased shedding during these periods is a sign of good health.

Hairball Care Methods

  • Hairball control food — Incorporating hairball-prevention food daily provides peace of mind.
  • Hairball remedy paste (e.g., Laxatone) — Tube paste 1-2 times per week. Cat grass also helps.
  • Increase water intake — More wet food and water stations help hairball passage.

Brushing Tips

  • Regular: 2-3 times/week, 3-5 min each
  • Shedding season: Daily if possible
  • Tangle-prone areas: Behind ears, neck, armpits, belly
  • Slicker brush recommended (don't press too hard)
  • Stop if they resist (not forcing = key to consistency)
Giving treats after brushing teaches them "brush = good thing."

Summer & Winter Tips

  • Summer: Don't aim AC directly at them. Ensure multiple cool spots and water stations.
  • Winter: Watch for dryness (humidifier recommended). Provide warm bedding. Mind static from brushing.
